Long before I was born, law enforcement at all levels has proven to be unworthy of the trust of citizens whom they are called to serve and protect. Meanwhile, they need to protect themselves and others still, but they need to do so without causing the unjust deaths of unarmed citizens, particularly unarmed black Americans. Police have access to soporiferous devices such as that which are used to capture, monitor, tag, save, and set free wild animals in their natural habitats without harming them in anyway. When a police officer fears for his/her life, shooting a soporiferous substance at the individual(s) who for whatever reason prove to be a threat, they can save themselves law suits and unnecessary murders of unarmed citizens by police, and can reduce police brutality immediately.
