Many (if not all) of the weapon laws here in New York State have been brought on by our very own Big Apple. Why should the city determine what goes on for the rest of the state? I would suggest keeping the current laws but for New York City only, most of New York is rural anyway. We should be able to exercise our second amendment at it's full potential. As for our current handgun permit age of 21, it should be changed to 18, just as many other states. New York City clings to New York State in general as a ball and chain would, it's time to break free.
