We, the undersigned,
- believe the Russia in recent years has become an authoritarian state - there is no separation of powers, are grossly violated human rights, including freedom of speech and demonstrations. Vladimir Putin has concentrated all power in his hands and practically became the sole ruler of the country.
Because the Group of Eight was originally created as a group of Western democracies, we believe that the continued presence of authoritarian Russia in this group is unacceptable.
