Unconditional interpretations of the right to bear arms must no longer threaten our right to peaceably assemble. Police officers do not deserve to be outgunned protecting law abiding citizens.
Our Republic expects well thought out debate and legislation from Congress. Until time allows such discourse to occur the undersigned call for an executive order banning assault weapon sales.
We recognize that the political fallout and outcries of oppression will be severe. Those consequences must be balanced against the lives of those chosen as targets by the next determined assault rifle purchaser.
Chains disguised as individual liberty shackle our First Amendment rights and right to life. Please take swift action now and let our system of checks and balances adjust our course for the long term.
