Executive Order Expanding Access to Healthcare Exchanges

In the Affordable Care Act (ACA) it was the legislative intent that people who did not qualify for Medicaid would be able to access the Healthcare Exchanges to obtain health insurance. The Supreme Court struck down the requirement that states expand Medicaid, and a number of states subsequently chose not to expand Medicaid. The result is that millions of Americans are now unintentionally in a healthcare gap - too poor to qualify for the Healthcare Exchanges while having too much income to qualify for Medicaid in non-expansion states. We request that President Obama, in order to faciliate the clear legislative intent, sign an Executive Order expanding the Healthcare Exchanges eligibility to include those people in non-expansion states who are not eligible for Medicaid due to non-expansion.
