A Rare Disease is one that affects fewer than 200,000 Americans. There are nearly 7,000 such diseases affecting nearly 30 million Americans, according to the National Institute of Health (NIH). Two-Thirds of those affected are children, and the diseases tend to be serious and lifelong. Evenso, most rare diseases have no approved treatment, and many are not being studied by medical researchers. Often, research on Rare Diseases is funded by families and friends of patients or by patient organizations. On February 29, 2016, millions around the world will be celebrating for public awareness. WE are requesting for an Executive Order that every last day of February be observed as Rare Disease Day in the United States of America Mr. President. Thank you in-advance for your consideration.
