Hello Mr. President, my heart broke when I learned about the Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting. Because of this massacre I too support reforms to our nation’s gun laws. However, when you say there should be an “assault weapons ban” you never mention semi-automatic rifles chambered for the rimfire cartridge .22 LR (Sig Sauer 522 for example). The rounds that these rifles are chambered for have little stopping power. I would like you to respond to this petition making a pledge to us that these types of rifles will be exempt from any new gun restriction legislation on the national level (Including all of their current magazine capacities). A gesture like this would show us all that you truly do believe that the over whelming majority of Americans are responsible gun owners.
