Most Americans believe the military has now been exempted from the looming government shutdown. There is an element of our military that seems to be overlooked : Dual Status Federal Technicians.

Dual Status Federal Technicians are members of the National Guard and Reserve who do their military jobs as full-time Department of Defense civilian employees. They are the personnel that maintain and fix equipment required for National Guard readiness, among other critical duties. They are required to be active members of the National Guard to be employed in these positions. They are also required to deploy with their units.
