Cornealious "Mike" Anderson, 36, is a married father of four, youth football coach, volunteer, homeowner and small business owner in St. Louis, MS. In 1999, he was arrested and later convicted of participating in a robbery of a Burger King manager and sentenced to 13 years in prison. He was released on bail while he filed appeals, and after he lost his appeals, the State of Missouri forgot about him-he was never told where to report to serve his prison sentence. From 1999-2013, Anderson was a hardworking tax paying citizen who chose a positive direction for his life. Requiring Anderson to serve a 13 year sentence 13 years after the fact would not be beneficial-for himself, his family or the state-in that the state would be using resources to "rehabilitate" an already respectable man.
