In 1994 three teenage boys were sent to prison for the brutal murders of three 8 year old boys. The eldest, Damien Echols was sent to death row and the other two, Jesse Misskelly Jr and Jason Baldwin were sentenced to life imprisonment.
They were found guilty through flaw and superstition.
Jesse confessed to the murders, though only the official confession was ever recorded. At the time Jesse only had an IQ of 75, meaning by legal standards he was mentally handicapped.
This year, they were freed from prison via the Alford Plea. Though still technically guilty, they are at last able to walk the streets.
