In order to continue progress in the field of deep space exploration (and the option of possible colonization,) NASA's funding needs to be greatly increased.
NASA has requested a an increase of .5 billion dollars for 2016. The total they request is for 18.5 billion dollars. This is simply not enough.
The budget's peak was reached in 1966, with a budget (adjusted for 2015) 43.5 billion dollars. It is in the opinion of many that, the budget should not have been gradually defunded since 1966, but should have continued to increase.
This being said, I petition the Obama administation to have members of the U.S. Congress, request a new budget of 30 billion dollars, with an annual increase of at least .3 billion.
