Expand the classification of "prohibited persons" to include all misdemeanor crimes with regards to firearm ownership.

I would ask the Obama Administration to expand the classification known as "prohibited persons" to include any person convicted of, or has plead no contest to any misdemeanor crime. If implemented this modification would ensure that only the truly law abiding will be allowed to buy, sell or possess firearms and/or ammunition. To be effective this change must apply retroactively and would have no time limit. Essentially marking them as "prohibited persons" for the rest of their natural life. Law enforcement would also need the right to search these people's persons and home to ensure compliance, without a court order or probable cause. Any violation should be a federal felony with the appropriate punishment therein.
