Expand the Department Of Education to provide standardized IT resources and assistance to the states

I believe the incoherent nature of IT for schools at this time is inefficient and disorganized. States and counties pay to have websites, servers, and networks built and maintained at varied cost, various platforms and varied levels of qualification. I believe the DOE could create an IT department tasked with developing software designed to cover all of these needs and maintain it at a lower cost. This would also make available tech support and resources to the IT departments of each school district. Enhanced communication between parents and schools, as well as streamlined communication at the state and county levels has additional cost reducing potential. An increased budget at the D.O.E. could save money for states, leaving those savings to fund other school projects and programs.
