The Civil Rights Act of 1964 states: "All persons shall be entitled to the full and equal enjoyment of the goods, services, facilities, and privileges, advantages, and accommodations of any place of public accommodation, as defined in this section, without discrimination or segregation on the ground of race, color, religion, or national origin."
Currently, 16 states allow businesses to discriminate against gays and lesbians under the guise of "religious freedom." It's time to include "sexual orientation" as one of the protected groups. Without federal civil rights protections in "places of public accommodation," so-called Religious Freedom laws will allow states to supersede local ordinances in that protect gays and lesbians from discrimination, effectively legalizing discrimination.
