Expand the GAO mission to include review of legislation's economic and environmental effects with peer reviewed research

Created by P.C. on June 27, 2013

The Government Accountability Office has been the one branch of our government willing to hold accountable our legislative bodies. Expanding their mission to provide non-partisan evaluation of pending legislation regarding it's economic, environmental and social impact using current peer reviewed research will curtail the undue influence of special interest lobbying on our elected officials. When legislation is debated without accurate evaluation of it's implication on our nation it is a disservice to us all. Regardless of political position our representatives should be basing their support or dissent of legislation on accurate information and not biased points of view. It is time to have honest debate of issues based on factual evaluation vs. rhetorical rants based on sensationalism.
