Currently the list of U.S. federal holidays includes Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and others.
On Federal holidays Students, most employed people, and governmental buildings all get a day off. But the list of federal holidays includes two Christian (Specifically Western Catholicism and Protestantism) holidays. Both Christmas and Thanksgiving are or were originally Christian holidays.
The fact that the government does not include holidays such as Yom Kippur, Eid Ul Fitur, Easter, Christmas according to the Eastern Orthodox calendar, Holi, Zartosht No-Diso, and many others is a flagrant violation of seperation of church and state.
Either no religious holidays should be federal holidays or all religious holidays should be federal holidays the latter being I think the more appropriate.
