Social Security benefits should be increased. It is one of the simplest ways to increase the purchasing power of a large number of Americans and to thereby stimulate the economy and job growth.
Remove the salary cap on payroll taxes; this will insure the long-term viability of Social Security and will help fund Medicare. Payroll taxes are currently regressive; people with lower incomes are taxed at a higher rate than people with incomes over the salary cap. Removal would make the tax proportional with everyone paying the same rate.
Veto any legislation which attempts to impose chained-CPI on inflation calculations for Social Security benefit increases. Chained-CPI reduces purchasing power and is inherently unfair.
