Even if you are living on your own, not claimed as a dependent on your parents taxes, and will not be receiving help from your parents to fund your education you still have to claim your parents income on your FAFSA. Which is making people like me stuck unable to go to college until 24 because we can not get funding. Most grants are for finically needy or you have some great story about over coming some circumstance, which don't get me wrong is great but the average student going to school doesn't meet those criteria. So now instead of being able to further my education I am working at a dead end job with no way to get anywhere until 24.
