Expanding Pennsylvania Standards in High Schools to pass the PSSA's

Teachers need to expand the way they teach so we have a better understanding of the principles of reading, writing, and mathematics. Teacher’s curriculums and lesson plans should not just be information to meet each standard from the state. PSSA’s certainly should still be required, but each teacher should expand on what they are teaching so students are pushed to learn more. In 2002, the No Child Left behind Act was signed and put into action. All students must meet proficient or advanced levels on the state assessment by 2014, or the school district could face consequences. Even if students progress a little each year, eventually they will reach the highest level of achievement and the district will be unable to show annual growth.
