This petition requests that the US government expedite the various permitting and licensing processes required to complete the Keystone XL Pipeline. This will allow Canadian and US oil to be transferred to U.S. refineries to be converted to various gasolines, plastics and lubricating products.
Access to this oil will provide the US with a strategic advantage of a 100+ year supply of oil. This advantage may be lost if we delay in our efforts and the Chinese fund a pipeline to the Canadian coast. This will also insure a source of oil within the North American continent in the event of a situation that hinders oil deliveries from overseas. This will make the US less affected by events in the unstable middle-east.
