expend all available effort to ensure that all student loan debt is applicable to discharge in bankruptcy proceedings.

Created by D.D. on June 27, 2013

Currently, under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code, most student loan debt cannot be discharged even though most - if not all - other debts will be discharged. This creates a serious burden on younger generations who together hold trillions of dollars in student loan debt and often have no way to pay back within their lifetime while maintaining a reasonable standard of living. The choice of poverty or debt is no choice at all. Make any and all student debt subject to Chapter 7 bankruptcy proceedings so that students who have put their trust in a system that guaranteed their hard work and expensive education would lead to a good job and reasonable pay are not punished for the rest of their lives for believing in the American dream.
