The Expenditures of the Female Menstrual Cycle

Created by A.B. on May 11, 2016

Hello, our names are Ashlyn B. and Lexie M. and we are high school seniors from Burlington, IA. According to the Huffington Post article “Here’s How Much A Woman’s Period Will Cost Her Over A Lifetime,” on average, a woman will spend about $18,000 on her period. The cost of this biological function that happens to almost every woman is enough money to pay for 1-2 years at a public university, rent an apartment for an extended period of time, and much more. Some possible means of funding would be raising money at special events, reducing military funds, and raising taxes on tobacco products to go towards the menstrual fund. By signing this petition, you are agreeing that people should not have to pay money in order to manage the biological functions of menstruation.
