Apparently, there are a lot of people in the United States who do not understand that when a majority of people in a democratic republic like ours votes for someone, that person gets elected--even if the people who voted for another person really do not like the person who won.
Some of these people have begun signing petitions to get the Federal Government to allow their state secede from the United States because they do not like the most recent election results, demonstrating that they do not understand on a very basic level how democracy works.
Because most of these people claim to believe in democracy, it is clear that there is an urgent need to have the administration explain to them, very patiently and kindly, that they cannot believe in secession and democracy at the same time.
