explain how collecting my past phone records and emails prevent future terrorist attacks!

Created by M.P. on June 18, 2013

Please explain to me how collecting information on my emails and phone calls can prevent a future attack by terrorists.
This program and broad collection of millions of Americans data, emails, and other communications is a large waste of govt. funds. When so few people are involved.

Will the govt quit these programs when Al Qaeda is wiped off the map? At that time will these large collection facilities and high end computers get closed down? Will that information be Deleted? Will we have to store it forever? How can we justify these expenses. With the technology around today do we really have to collect all that data, honestly?
