Tom Wheeler was recently nominated to be the new chairman of the Federal Communications Communication. As a former communications industry lobbyist he is in a position to have strong industry interests rather than protect the interest of the people.
Given current telecommunications debates such as "net neutrality" and recent controversy over Meredith Baker (the now Comcast Lobbyist) who was one of the FCC commissions which approved the NBC Comcast merger, it is prudent to select a more neutral individual for this important regulatory position. This is especially true given the importance of the communications industry to America's future economic potential and the fulfillment of basic human rights.
