Explain how the reasons the govt gives for keeping marijuana illegal is not hypocritical compared to alcohol and tobacco

Created by D.M. on December 27, 2012

Alcohol and tobacco is far more damaging to the individual and to society than smoking marijuana. All the excuses given in earlier petition responses give excuses that are only more true for these two legal items. Alcohol impairs people more, damages the brain more, cigs destroy the lungs more and far less people quit cigarettes than marijuana when they grow older. Emergency room incidents are probably a lot higher for alcohol than for marijuana. We want the right to consume marijuana when we chose like others have the right to drink or smoke cigarettes. If you are afraid of the potency, let weaker forms available for sale, at least, or make edible forms of it, then no lung issues. The governments excuses are poor and short-sighted.
