Local, State, and Federal tax cost us 68% of our earnings.
A material supplier pays property tax, business tax, fuel tax, and many others (called the "Whole Tax") so they set their price to cover these costs.Taxes are about 11% of this price.
This repeats along the product's journey through the manufacturer (adds another 10%), the distributor (another 9%), and the retailer (another 14%). Now, 44% of the price is to cover taxes along the way.
Payroll tax takes about 25%. Another 8% to sales tax.
We earn $1300, ($975 after tax) we spend that to get a $429 product and pay another $546 in "Whole Tax".
This is ridiculous.
Constitutional Amendment:
1. Simple Tax: 10% on Revenue/Income
2. No other taxes allowed at any level
3. Local gets 1%, State 4%, Fed 5%
4. % change requires 2/3 States
