I'm just looking for a reason why the government is continuing to subsidize corn when so much corn is being used to create things like high fructose corn syrup which is pretty much universally acknowledged to have zero health benefits. Why aren't we subsidizing healthier foods like broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, leafy greens, peppers, cauliflower, and so on?
I'm just trying to figure out why when I went into a convenience store recently the small container of baby carrots cost almost twice as much as the king sized Snickers bar on the other side of the aisle. If we're serious about improving the health of our country and keeping down our ever increasing health care costs down wouldn't it make more sense for us to invest in more nutritious foods?
