Christopher Columbus Day should be changed to Exploration Day, because Columbus could not have "discovered" a place that already had millions of people already living there. While many like to celebrate his passage across the Atlantic Ocean, he began an era that resulted in the death of millions of innocent Native people either through brutal practice of enslavement or disease. While some argue about the importance of his exploration, all I ask is that the name of the day be changed to "Exploration Day", a day for people to celebrate all explorations that have pushed the human race forward, instead of celebrating a specific divisive character. With the signatures that follow I hope that the National Holiday "Christopher Columbus Day" should be changed to "Exploration Day".
