In an era where airline service is inconvenient and expensive and where the reduction of vehicle congestion is a much-mentioned objective the reinvigoration of passenger rail travel is a viable alternative.
The expansion of rail travel would create jobs in the local areas where passenger train stations are opened or re-opened and provide employment for many who would work the cars and serve the passengers.
Rail travel would reduce traffic on our roads and highways and provide ease of travel for many in both long and short distances.
We currently have rail lines criss-crossing this country, often through beautiful American landscapes and countrysides. Many of these rail lines are currently in use for commercial transport but could be shared with passengers if scheduled correctly.
