Express support and sympathy for Eritreans languishing in refugee camps worldwide or in the grasp of human traffickers

Many Eritreans flee their country to avoid the disturbing policy of forced indefinite conscription, along with the increasing poverty and hopelessness in Eritrea today. Not enough is being said let alone done to bring enough attention to the refugee situation in Eritrea to create change. Despite eluding the shoot-to-kill policy employed by Eritrean border guards, many Eritreans are captured by human traffickers on their route to pursue freedom. They are held hostage, tortured, and are only released if their families pay a hefty ransom. Those that manage to survive the trip end up in refugee camps where they often wait many months or years before they can gain entry into another country. The United States government must extend support towards the victims of this human rights crisis.
