Express views on requests from peoples, territories, and/or nations outside the US to become part of the US.

Created by A.F. on May 13, 2013

With the advent of the internet and increasing globalization of world economies and cultures, the many peoples of the world are becoming closer and more interconnected than ever before. With the rise of this interconnectedness and the ever present need a people have for safeguarding themselves from the tyranny of others, what would happen if a people requested to become part of the United States of America? What would be the reasoning behind the administration’s decisions and positions on such issues? Would location make a difference? If said people became part of the US, as a state or territory, and were geographically distant, would the US still guarantee all of these people the same rights and privileges of current US citizens? Would being on a different continent affect the "A" in USA?
