Expunge the records of non-violent offenders after five years of maintaining a good, decent citizens record.

Created by J.R. on January 28, 2013

Various reports (Pew, CNN, etc.), State Governors, Senators, Attorney Generals, etc.; have stated the need for reform of the system for non-violent, repeat or possible repeat offenders. When one cannot get employment to support their family and themselves, thus, after paying their debt to society and maintaining a good citizens record; one's world becomes very small. The decrease of imprisonment time, rehabilitation, outside treatment sources, educational training, probation instead of imprisonment could all possibly lead one to being a productive member of society. The expunging of a non-violent offenders' record after a number of years is the Humane, Economical and Civil act of a civilized and caring society.
