Extend the American opportunity tax credit and to double the amount that the taxpayer/student gets back in pocket 2013.

Created by J.B. on November 13, 2012

The American Opportunity tax credit has given resources back to lower class and middle class families for years now. The tax credit gives the student a maximum of 1,000 dollars back in pocket to help pay for their education. Sadly, education prices have sky rocketed and lower class students need as much government and social support as they can get to survive and progress in their academic and professional pursuits. I am petitioning that the Obama administration extend the American Opportunity Credit through 2018 and make the credit available to students past their first four years of undergraduate studies to eight full years of study. Also, I am petitioning that the maximum amount be doubled to 2,000 dollars in pocket to the taxpayer/student.
