PTSD and Major Depressive Disorder are both classified as mental disorders and the military supports its members suffering from those conditions. The military classifies Gender Identity Disorder as a mental disorder and considers it to be a grounds for immediate discharge from service. Repealing DADT was a great step on the path to end discrimination in the service, but there is still a long way to go. There are thousands of transgender members serving faithfully and dutifully while having to watch over their shoulders to ensure they are not outed.
