Recently, a new limit was introduced reducing the number of years a student may recieve pell grants. While this seems reasonable, it fails to account for the fact that very low income students often start school several times due to moving and other issues. Every new program is a step backwards from completion, creating more years of schooling. I am one of those students. Having recently found a treatment for my depression that allowed me to function well enough to stay in school, I am now losing my grant, as well as reaching my loan limits. I may be forced to quit, despite finally becoming successful in college. Everyone deserves a chance at an education, not just the ones who have money, or can get by easily. Extending eligibility would help insure that everyone would have that chance.
