FMLA should be extended to other people besides spouse, child, or parent and it should cover people that work for businesses that have under 50 people. Although some states provide additional coverage, many states do not. Since many people are single in the US and the number is growing it is imperative that FMLA extend to other people. The number of single women and men is almost half of the population and have aging parents that they must take care of but when they get older and require care then FMLA will not apply. Any approved person should be able to qualify to take care of a loved one.
