The purpose of this petition is to ensure that all American couples have the right to join in matrimony, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. Furthermore, all Americans will be guaranteed equal protection and benefits under law as it relates to marriage. This includes but is not limited to survivor benefits, employee health care coverage and rights under the Family Medical Leave Act.
