Petition the Obama administration to create a Presidential commission investigating legislation to extend patent length in select circumstances where medical science has made slow progress. The intent is to encourage private investment in medical research during an era of tight federal budgets. Targets would be diseases that have no known cures or prospects for cures in the immediate future such as Parkinson's, bio engineering of organs for example,hearts.
Careful consideration would need to be taken to structure legislation that would not simply be a windfall for large companies, but would encourage research that otherwise would not be taken.
