We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Extend the Plug-In Electric Drive Vehicle Credit beyond the first 200,000 EVs sold by each company

Created by M.A. on July 24, 2016

Electric vehicles (EVs) represent a paradigm shift in transportation, reducing US dependence on foreign oil and protecting the environment. The $7500 federal tax credit for EV buyers is an important incentive to encourage widespread adoption. However, the tax credit is limited to one quarter year after the quarter in which the 200,000th EV produced by a manufacturer is delivered. This would make many buyers of affordable EVs, such as the Tesla Model 3 and the Chevrolet Bolt, ineligible for the credit. This petition requests Congress to extend the tax credit to all EVs produced by a manufacturer, not just the initial, expensive ones that are out of reach of the regular consumer.
