President Obama has said that "[e] very single American deserves to be treated equally in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of our society. It's a pretty simple proposition."
If equality is a simple proposition, then it should be a simple matter to finally correct a grave injustice continually perpetuated on American soil. Extend voting rights to Puerto Rico, so that puertoricans may vote for President and Vice-President. End the disenfranchisment of nearly 2 million American citizens who live on the island and cannot vote merely because of geography.
D.C. is not state either, but at least they can vote for President and Vice-President. Why should Puerto Rico be treated differently?
