January 18th, 2015, Stanford, Connecticut, a woman is found behind a dumpster, her dress pulled up and her underwear pulled down, blood on her elbows and hands. A few yards away, two men had pinned down the man they saw on top of her. Flash forward.
March 30th, 2016. Brock Turner, the man who raped her, is sentence to only six months in jail for a crime that was recommended at least six years imprisonment, perhaps even more. While the judge who declared the ruling has since been removed from the case, the sentencing still stands.
Now, flash forward to this Friday, September 2nd, 2016, three months before his already short sentence was set to end. He's being released for good behavior. I ask you, should a known-rapist be given such light punishment for a crime so awful and dehumanizing?
