In 1981, the Reagan Administration phased out SS survivor benefits for children who have lost a parent from age 21 (if in college) to age 18 (19 if the child is still in a secondary school). Obama's commitment to insure the affordability of college education for all American children should make repealing this phase-out a top priority. Single parent households are suffering as a result of this, making harder to pay for Children to attend college.
