President Obama has enacted assistance for students with extensive loan debt from higher education with loans originated after October 2007.
The economic issues that have impacted students and their ability to repay college loan debt were in effect prior to October 2007. This petition is intended to bring that issue to light for President Obama in the hopes that he will extend the student loan assistance programs to include students with college loans originated prior to October 2007, especially those that completed a degree and have been unable to find work in their field of study due to depressed economic conditions in the United States as a whole, as well as within their respective states. These students worked hard for the education and should not be excluded from relief efforts.
