Extend unemployment insurance

Created by L.D. on January 27, 2014

Unemployment Insurance was cut off to 1.3 million Americans on December 28, 2013. Congress has since filibustered the issue and nothing is being done to extend benefits. During this time Americans are unable to pay their gas and electric bills, cell phone bills, rent, mortgage, etc. This is making it even harder for people that are unemployed to find work. It is also negatively affecting the economy. As more Americans tighten their belts, small businesses are also suffering.

We need President Obama to step in and bypass congress to make this extension happen. It is a lifeline to hard working people, who lost their job due to no fault of their own. Without this lifeline people are cold, hungry, unable to pay their bills and losing hope.
