In 1977, JoAnne Chesimard, a member of the Black Liberation Army, executed New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster on the NJ Turnpike. Chesimard was sentenced to life in prison but escaped from a Hunterdon County prison shortly after her conviction. Chesimard was granted political asylum by Cuba and is now protected by the Cuban government. Terrorist Chesimard was added to the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list in 2013.
