JoAnne Chesimard (AKA Assata Shakur) was convicted of executing New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster as he lay wounded on the NJ Turnpike after a shootout in 1973.
Chesimard was convicted in a court of law and sentenced to life in prison. She subsequently escaped and fled to Cuba where she was granted "political asylum" and is now treated as a local folk hero.
The USA must be relentless in its demand that JoAnne Chesimard be returned to justice.
