to facilitate the release of Abdumalik Abdullajanov, former Prime Minister of Tajikistan

Created by S.E. on March 18, 2013

We ask the US government to facilitate the release of Abdumalik Abdullajanov, former Prime Minister of Tajikistan, who was detained by the Ukrainian authorities at the Borispol international airport in Kiev on February 5 2013 on the grounds of numerous allegations made by the government of Tajikistan. Most recently Mr. Abdullojonov resided in the United States where he has political asylum. He also was on a wanted list of Interpol. In Tajikistan, he faces a politically biased trial, unfair treatment, torture, and even death.

The following are some of the official charges he faces: organizing a criminal group, the seizure of power, sabotage, terrorism, coupled with an attack on a government official, embezzlement of state property in large amounts, and others crimes.
