Fathers who sign the birth certificate of their child should have the same custody rights as the mother even if they are not married. The father should not have to go to court to file for custody. Shared parenting should be the first alternative in a dispute rather than giving the mother all the custody rights, unless there is a situation in were the mother or father is unsuitable for the child or may cause harm.
