FCC My FaceBook :: FB has achieved a monopoly position in the personal communications marketplace, with reportedly over 70% of the population as registered users, a great many of those using it more than a telephone to communicate with friends and associates.
Imagine if a telephone company tried to dictate to it's users that only certain numbers could be called. It would quickly be sanctioned by the FCC. And yet, that is exactly what FB does in it's routine policing of the free association of it's users, using coercive language and actually sanctioning users for attempting to associate with other users. It's outrageous.
We Petition the Executive to investigate the possibility that FB has grown to be an enterprise, like the telecoms, that needs to be regulated in the Public Interest.
